Mohamed Adel Dessouki محمد عادل دسوقي     The marvelous, beautifully rendered series of drawings by Mohamed Adel Dessouki entitled “As Seen by the Birds” is an intriguing portrait of urban life glimpsed from above. Individuals, families, and friends pass below on a street, going about their daily lives, unknowingly observed. Yet in that moment captured by Mohamed’s pencil, we are given a brief insight into another person’s world and even something about their personality—a happy child with her parent, a student intently on her way to school, or two friends immersed in conversation—and as a collective work, “As Seen by the Birds” describes a place and a time: modern Egyptians, on their phones or on motorcycles, going places and moving forward… —D.N.
