ESRAA GAMAL OSMAN

Esraa Gamal Osman     A recent graduate from the Faculty of Fine Arts South Valley University in Luxor, Esraa Gamal Osman’s lovely paintings take us within the wistful, intimate world of a young Egyptian woman. With her unusual compositions in which one loses balance and direction, Esraa’s reclined figures are floating in their own far-away thoughts, full of quiet moments and dreamy euphoria. In a modern world of selfies and posing—constantly aware of how we look and how we might be perceived—Esraa’s pretty females seem distinctly unselfconscious. We gaze with wonder at them, as their own gaze seems to look out and beyond the painting itself. In other painterly sketches, Esraa explores the rural moments of life in southern Egypt with a pastel palette and youthful compositions. But she’s revealed her skills and a unique style, and Luxor Art Gallery looks forward with eager anticipation for more from this wonderful artist. —D.N.
