eUPHEMIA MacTAVISH

Euphemia MacTavish     Traversing the landscapes of Luxor’s Theban necropolis—ancient temple complexes, labyrinthian tombs, honeycombed hills, checkered agricultural fields, and the layered assemblages of mudbrick villages—Euphemia MacTavish has wandered the vistas with her pencil and paintbrush, creating almost map-like images of the terrain and vast environments. Her watercolor works embody the array of colors on her journeys, while her etchings and prints are textured like topographic plots, surveying the world around her with an inspired eye. Her exhibition “Things Not Meant To Be Seen” held at the Daphne Oram Gallery, Canterbury Christ Church University, 20 Sep – 30 Oct 2021, will showcase her work from Egypt. Luxor Art Gallery is eager to exhibit her work in the near future.—D.N.
