hOSSAM EL SAYED

Hossam El Sayed     The bronze and red clay sculptures of Egyptian Hossam El Sayed are so sentimental, so intimate, so precious, they require no words to convey their truth. Hossam brings forth the flesh of his material, his figures swelling and expanding, transforming and merging, like a beating heart trapped within a body that cannot contain it. Massive hands entwine and lips long for one another, necks straining and eyes closed lost in inner dreams. Hossam’s sculptures are the essence of a poem without words, of love and longing. —D.N.
