Ghada Embarek Solo Exhibition
‎"وش مرايا Wesh Maraya" (Double Faced)
Opening Sunday 27 November at 4pm
at Luxor Art Gallery

Reducing the figure to essential form, with colors extracted from the depths of her idiosyncratic vision, Ghada Embarek’s artworks deduct distractions down to essence. Her new collection "وش مراي Wesh Maraya" (Double Faced) features portraits of her fellow Egyptians from a "mirrored" perspective, the inside out, recognition versus dissimulation, nature reflecting soul. Who are we? What are we? Beyond flesh and blood, Ghada delves deep into an interior philosophy that unites us all, seeking the bonding secrets of our humanity. Based in Cairo with family roots in Qena, Ghada was influenced by her world travels early in her artistic career, living in Japan and Singapore. She returned to her home country of Egypt with an enlightend vision that has enriched her fascinating exploration throughout her art. Her paintings, watercolors, and sketches illuminate the auras and mysteries of life, creating peculiar shapes we all can perceive and recognize and feel. —D.N.
