Yara El Walid Exploring deeply personal emotions through paint, Yara El Walid’s artworks are provocative, intended to enrapture and immerse the viewer in an intimate exploration of her conscious and subconscious feelings. Whereas a mirror reflects reality, Yara’s paintings are reflections of the female form through the eyes of a young woman seeing not only her own inner beauty, but the curiosity, emotional chaos, pain and pleasure connected to the body. Previously a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts South Valley University in Luxor, and also attending Helwan University in Zamalek, Yara’s art is perhaps shocking in a conservative country, but certainly not offensive, as her paintings try to communicate with utmost sensitivity the tumultuous challenges of being not only a woman, but a human being.
